Taxes: A Fairer Tax System for Working Families
The problem: Georgia's tax system asks a lot of working families, and even when relief is on the table, it isn't always shaped to help the families who need it most. Incumbent Chuck Martin has built his legislative career around flat-rate income tax cuts and homeowner exemptions, real relief for people who already own a home, but relief that delivers the largest dollar savings to Georgia's highest earners rather than targeted help for renters, young families, or workers just starting out.
What Sara will do about it:
Support responsible property tax relief that protects homeowners, especially seniors, from being priced out by rising valuations.
Push for more transparency and accountability around corporate tax breaks, so Georgians can see exactly what the state gives up and why.
Oppose tax policy that shifts the burden further onto working families while protecting the most profitable interests in the state.
Advocate for a tax system that funds strong public schools, healthcare, and infrastructure without balancing the budget on the backs of everyday Georgians.
Why it matters to her: Sara Fuchs has spent six years inside the State House watching budget and tax decisions get made, and whose interests get prioritized in the process. She has also managed real budgets herself, from a PTA fund that put food in kids' backpacks to a $250,000 preservation grant at Emory University, and she knows the difference between spending that serves people and spending that serves special interests. District 49 deserves a representative who treats tax policy as a tool for fairness, not a favor to the highest bidder.
