Why I’m running.
I didn’t wake up one day and decide to run for office. I was asked. And when I sat with the question, I realized I was already doing the parts of this job that matter most.
For six years, I’ve worked inside the Georgia State House as Chief of Staff to Rep. Betsy Holland. I’ve watched how bills actually get written, amended, and killed. I know what it means to be a Democrat in the minority, and I know what it looks like when a representative simply stops showing up for the job.
District 49 deserves a representative who does the homework and treats this seat like the privilege it is. That’s the job I’m asking you to give me.
Why I’m qualified.
I’m not new to this. I’ve been in the State House where it happens.
I know how the State House works. Six years inside it, tracking legislation, negotiating across the aisle, and turning process into results for constituents.
I know what it means to govern from the minority, and how to win real victories without holding the gavel.
I know how to win campaigns. I started as a volunteer on the 2018 campaign that flipped Buckhead’s House seat for the first time in a generation, then went on to manage winning re-election campaigns as campaign manager.
I know how to manage people, budgets, and crises—from a $250,000 preservation grant at Emory University to a school PTA budget that puts food in kids’ backpacks every week.
My story.
I grew up in east Cobb and live in Roswell, Georgia with my husband Raúl Santelices, our sons Raúl Leo (13) and Tomás (12), and our rescue dog, Butter.
I’m a librarian, political consultant, campaign manager, and longtime advocate for strong schools, thriving communities, and access to information and opportunity.
I’ve spent my career working in higher education, libraries, archives, and cultural institutions. I’ve worked at Georgia State University, Georgia Tech, and Emory University, where I managed digital initiatives, led collaborative projects, and helped preserve and make accessible the stories and knowledge held in our communities. Most recently, I served as project manager for a Mellon-funded initiative at Emory’s Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library.
My work in politics began in 2018, when I volunteered for my friend’s State House race. Rep. Betsy Holland flipped that district from red to blue and later asked me to work as her Chief of Staff during legislative session, a position I held for six years. I ran her successful winning re-election campaigns in 2020 and 2022.
A longtime resident of the Roswell area, I’m also deeply involved in my local community. I serve as the Student Governance Council Parent Representative and PTSA Fundraising Chair at a Title 1 middle school and was the PTA president at a Title 1 elementary school. I prioritized raising and allocating funds so that no need was unmet and no child did without. I’ve also seen firsthand the importance of strong public schools and the difference that engaged communities can make for children and families.
I believe government works best when it listens to the people it serves, brings people together to solve problems, and approaches public service with curiosity, integrity, and a willingness to do the work. I’m running for Georgia House District 49 to bring my experience as a problem-solver, collaborator, and community member to public service.
